Fujitsu General adds youth sponsorship to V8 line-up

Fujitsu General has announced it will support 16-year-old karting graduate, Scott McLaughlin from Stone Brothers Racing (SBR), in the 2010 Fujitsu V8 Supercar series.

Continuing Fujitsu General’s commitment to developing young talented drivers, McLaughlin will become the youngest driver to ever contact a V8 Supercar event. He will drive a BF Falcon under the Fujitsu Racing banner in this year’s seven-round championship and plans to spend at least two years in the feeder category, racing alongside the ‘main-game’ V8 Supercar Championship Series.

The sponsorship is part of the Fujitsu Development Series, which last year saw Fujitsu General sponsor youngster Damien Assaillit. Announcing recently that it has also signed a new Fujitsu Racing championship deal with Garry Rogers Motorsport, Fujitsu continues to build its support of V8 Supercars.

Philip Perham, Deputy Managing Director, Fujitsu General (Aust.) Pty Limited, said “Fujitsu General is excited to partner with SBR in 2010 and support Scott McLaughlin in his first foray into the V8 Supercar world. It has always been our company’s intention, in sponsoring the Development series, to build a strong V8 support category for young drivers to hone their skills in a V8 Supercar and of course, hopefully break into the main Championship Series. This sponsorship through SBR backs up our commitment to the Series and youth development.

“This extended sponsorship also provides us with further branding opportunities and exposure at the track, as well as another outlet for entertaining our corporate partners. We expect it will additionally reach some of the younger fans who are just starting to become involved in the sport.”

The 2010 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series will begin in Adelaide on March 12.
