For the third consecutive year, Fujitsu General Australia’s Managing Director, Philip Perham (pictured), will participate in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Scheduled for Thursday 18 June, this year the event has been transformed due to COVID-19. The 2020 sleepout will be an interactive and online event, enabling the organisation to continue raising vital funds and awareness to support Australians who are homeless and living in poverty.

Hundreds of CEOs across Australia participating in the sleepout have been asked to nominate a location to sleep out for one night, sharing their experience through an interactive live stream. Perham has chosen to sleep in his backyard. Located in the New South Wales Southern Highlands, where the temperature typically falls to zero degrees on winter evenings. Perham will have nothing more than a sleeping bag, beanie, a sheet of cardboard and a cup of soup to help him have a realistic homeless experience.

“The annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a chance for business and community leaders to empathise with the hardships that homelessness causes individuals and families every day across Australia. COVID-19 has undoubtedly worsened these hardships significantly, so now more than ever is the time to gain a sense of understanding and lend a helping hand,” commented Perham.

“COVID-19 has turned our everyday lives upside down, from the way we conduct business, the way we socialise and the way we help others. This online sleepout is an opportunity for leaders to continue to raise awareness for this cause and it’s great that Vinnies is able to adapt the event.

“Fujitsu General’s purpose is to provide Australians with indoor comfort. Everyone should be able to sleep in a bed in a comfortable and safe home environment. With help from my colleagues and the wider industry, I am fundraising to support the services Vinnies provides to make this a reality.”

Philip Perham’s personal fundraising target is $50,000 and donations can be made via the fundraising page: https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/fundraisers/philip-perham/sydney
