FAQs: Troubleshooting & Support

Why is my Fujitsu air conditioner not heating & what should I do?

Every air conditioner should have filters installed. These filters need to be washed to maintain optimum performance. Depending on the usage the recommended time frame between cleaning your filters will vary. If you use your air conditioner daily, your filter should be cleaned at least once a month, and for those that use it less often, every three months should be sufficient. Please note that the cleaner the filter, the better the performance.

Filters are installed within the unit for wall mounted, floor console, and cassette type units. For duct type units, the filter is installed in a return air grille located somewhere on the ceiling. Most filters can be cleaned by washing them in warm water and should only be reinstalled after they have fully dried. If you need further information, please contact us

Common reasons your Fujitsu air conditioner is not heating

If your Fujitsu air conditioner’s heat mode is not working, there could be a number of issues at play. A simple problem such as a tripped circuit breaker or obstructed airflow could impact the ability of the unit to operate in its heating mode.

Something else to check if your Fujitsu air conditioner is not heating is the setting in which it is operating. Simply adjusting the temperature is often not enough to switch the unit over to its dedicated heating mode. Check that the remote is displaying ‘HEAT’ and not ‘AUTO’. While you have your air conditioner’s remote control in your hand, switch the fan speed adjustment from auto to the desired level to ensure the room remains comfortable and warm.

If your Fujitsu air conditioner’s heat mode is not working after troubleshooting using the above steps, there may be a more serious problem with the unit.

What to do next if your Fujitsu air conditioner heat mode is not working

If your aircon is not heating your home effectively, there are a number of things you can do to help resolve the issue.

Examine the External Unit

If your split system air conditioner is not heating effectively, it is worth checking the external unit for damage or obstructions. Debris, worn componentry and a buildup of ice or snow all have the ability to significantly affect the performance of your air conditioner. If you discover any obstructions, clear them away before testing your air conditioner’s heat mode again.

Look for Error Codes

If your air conditioner is a fairly modern unit, it will likely have the ability to flag error codes when an issue arises. Refer to the user manual of your particular model of air conditioner to understand what each code means, and cross-reference this information against any error messages your unit is displaying when you switch it on.

Wait for Defrosting Operation

Sometimes when the outdoor temperature is very low with high humidity, frost may form on the outdoor unit during the heating operation. For frost protection, an automatic defrost function is equipped in most modern air conditioners. When frost forms, the air conditioner heating mode will temporarily stop, and the defrost circuit will operate briefly (up to 15 minutes). Once the defrost cycle finishes the unit will go back to heating.
