It can be very frustrating when your air conditioner remote control is not working. In most cases, it’s usually the batteries that need replacing.
However, if you have done that and your Fujitsu aircon remote is still not working, you should try resetting the controller.
To reset the remote controller, press and hold the RESET button for 5 seconds, which is located bottom right of the controller. While the button is being pressed, the display should go blank. For step-by-step guidance on this, see our article on how to reset air conditioner remote control.
If neither of these fixes the issue, there could be several other reasons why your aircon remote is not working as expected.
If your air conditioner remote control is not working or has stopped responding, there are several possible causes worth checking before arranging a replacement.
Flat or exhausted batteries: This is the most common reason. Replace both batteries at the same time, even if you think only one might be low.
Battery leakage or corrosion: Check the battery compartment for residue or corrosion. Clean carefully if needed, or replace the remote if the damage is extensive.
Improper reset: Try pressing the RESET button for five seconds located on the bottom right of the controller. The screen should go blank and then restart.
Physical damage: Dropping the remote can damage internal components. Check if there are any cracks or defective buttons.
Water exposure: Moisture can permanently damage the internal circuitry. Remote controls exposed to water are not covered under warranty.
Signal interference: Ensure there is a clear line of sight between the remote and the indoor unit. Objects blocking the signal can prevent communication.
Wrong remote for the unit: In homes with different models or brands of air conditioning, ensure the correct remote is used with the correct indoor unit.
